A few words of welcome.
Special thanks to DFD member Alejandra for the beautiful cinematography.
Toy Story Midway Mania

This was a tough choice for me. The Disneyland challenge is only for Disneyland so I’m able to space out different rides for different days. But having to decide on my favorite DCA attraction? It was tough. I really like Tower of Terror for obvious reasons, but there are a few attractions that I get pure joy out of every time I attend. First is the Animation Academy since I love to draw and respect the animators. More recently World of Color has had a huge effect on me. I’m going to have to go with Toy Story Midway Mania on this though. Although I don’t ride it often because of the ridiculous wait time, I really enjoy it when I do. The 4D is pretty decent, and the competitiveness is always a plus. And let’s face it, how can you not love something that has Toy Story all over it? Toy Story Midway Mania takes the crown for my favorite DCA attraction.

The People Mover

Captain EO would have been my first choice but luckily, it’s back in action. So I’m going with another Tomorrowland attraction, the People Mover. I’m telling you, Tomorrowland has to keep reinventing itself to keep up with technology. The People Mover was closed to make way for Rocket Rods, another extinct attraction. I’d like to see an updated (3D?) version of the People Mover. And it can go through Astro Blasters, Star Tours, Space Mountain, all of them!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
HOORAY! This is another great attraction at night and even better while the fireworks show is going on. This ride has speed and I always slide from side to side. People like to throw their hands up while on the ride, but I’m always afraid my long arms will touch the top of the caverns when we go underground. My only complaint about this ride is that it’s so loud. I usually always carry earplugs with me when I go to Disneyland and this ride is one of the main reasons why I do. Buckle up rancher.

rachel-blue replied to your post: Checklist Day 2
Whoa, whoa, wait. They added Blackbeard into Pirates? I literally just rode that a week and a half ago and he wasn’t added in yet. I’m not sure how I feel about that.
Yeah, I think they changed it on May 20th. The day “On Stranger Tides” was released. I rode it again last night and Black Beard is still there.
It’s cool, but Davy Jones is WAY better.
Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin

It was between this and Gadget’s Go Coaster. I don’t particularly love either of them but they’re not bad. Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin is fun, but that’s basically it. I think this ride works better with kids and families.

Splash Mountain

This is a ride that has survived the test of time. It doesn’t really need to be redone, just refurbished. I hope it opens back up during the height of the summer season. If not, people will be flocking to Grizzly River Rapids to cool off.
This is a classic Disneyland ride. As long as I can remember, I’ve looked forward to getting on this ride when planning my day. I did it as a kid, on field trips, and even now with an annual pass. Zippity-Doo-Dah indeed.

This post for my checklist will be somewhat all over the place since I can’t really seem to remember which attractions I hit up first. Having said that, I’ll continue. I went to Disneyland on Sunday with fellow DFD founder Danielle, my brother and his girlfriend. I was pleasantly surprised to see that my brother and his girl were enthusiastic about the checklist. It made me happy.
I hit up Innoventions for the first time in a long time. It was cool, but I fear just like the rest of Tomorrowland, modern day technology makes some of these inventions hardly ground breaking. We’ve all seen interactive kitchens and touch screen coffee tables. The future is now.

I finished up my first “LAND.” New Orleans Square was the first to be crossed off the list. Sure it only has two main attractions, but it was a small victory for me. Pirates of the Caribbean was nice as usual and the addition of Black Beard worked well even if I prefer Davy Jones. The Haunted Mansion was a short wait. I still get a bit creeped out by the room with the ‘corpse bride’ but I love the arrangement of “Bridal Chorus” in that room.
I had way too much fun on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. It was hilarious to see Winnie the Pooh trip on some bad honey.
Over in California Adventure we hit up the Mission Tortilla Factory and grabbed a fresh tortilla. Yum. I finished off A Bug’s Land starting with Flik’s Flyers. It was a nice little parachute rotating ride. Nothing too crazy. Tuck and Roll’s Drive ‘Em Buggies was a nice dose of bumper cars. The area was a bit small to maneuver but fun nonetheless. I finished off A Bug’s Land by walking through Princess Dot Puddle Park. No kids were around so I walked through the fountains virtually unscathed, it was epic.

Flynn’s Arcade was the last place I went before packing up and heading to the parking lot. I stayed in there just long enough to hear that wretched Journey song. No not ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ that other one. I think that was my cue to leave.

Pretty successful day. I’ll be back with my Checklist Day 3 and the addition of Star Tours! Thanks for reading. Happy hunting.

Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye

Like Star Tours, this is a no brainer. The Indiana Jones movies are among my favorites ever (excluding that terrible Crystal Skull). Whenever I go to the park with my friend Aaron we always end up quoting lines from the movies. It helps pass the time while waiting in line. The outside of the attraction looks great with the jungle and temple. The inside is even more impressive with little traps and interactive things to keep you occupied during the wait. The ride itself is such a joy. It takes familiar bits of the movies while using some original scares and thrills. I hear there are 2 hidden Mickeys on this attraction but I have yet to find any of them. Indiana Jones is without a doubt my favorite Adventureland attraction and is in the contention for favorite attraction period.

Pirates of the Caribbean

With only 2 attractions to choose from in New Orleans Square, I’m choosing Pirates. Even before all of the movie additions, I really liked this ride. I think they’ve done a great job of incorporating the movies. They’ve replaced Davy Jones with Black Beard on for the time being, but I think it works well. Usually the wait time is decent and it’s a nice relaxing ride once you get past the waterfalls.
Having said that, I’m going to give The Haunted Mansion a shout out for their spectacular transformation during the holiday season. If you ask me what my favorite attraction is within the months of October and January, you can bet it’ll be the Nightmare Before Christmas Mansion. Awesome.

Star Tours

This is a no brainer for me. Though, at this moment when I type this the original Star Tours is NO MORE and the newly revamped Star Tours II isn’t officially open yet. So I suppose this is a grey area or an homage to my favorite ride of the past. We’ll see what happens in the future with the opening of Star Tours II. I hear nothing but great reviews from random people. The Star Tours of old was a great experience for a Star Wars fanatic like myself. Seeing C-3PO and R2-D2 in the hangar deck was somewhat magical. And let’s face it, who hasn’t dreamt of doing the Death Star run and hitting light speed? Light speed was worth the price of admission alone. I’m completely serious. May The Force Be With You.

Matterhorn Bobsleds
Maybe it’s the yodeling, maybe it’s the “Remain Seated Please” that reminds me of No Doubt’s Tragic Kingdom, maybe it’s the ride itself. Whatever the reason, this is my favorite Fantasyland Attraction. Ever since I was a kid I’ve loved this ride. The speed and different tracks are a rush riding at night. Ever ride this while the fireworks show is going on? Brilliant. 3 cheers for the basketball court inside.
